Bathrooms ‘Top Home Improvement Project’

The new year is not that far away and it’s traditionally a time when we start to think about making some changes. That might mean tackling those home improvement projects you’ve been meaning to get round to.

Research from Checkatrade, and shared by the Express, found that 51 per cent of British homeowners intend to carry out some kind of home improvement works in the coming 12 months.

The organisation found that March is likely to be the most popular month for homeowners to take the plunge and get on with their DIY. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the bathroom is the most likely room to be getting a makeover.

Some 37 per cent of those questioned said that this is the space they’ll be focusing their efforts on. As well as making your home a more pleasant place to live in, renovating an old bathroom will make it more sellable, and could even mean you get a higher price should you come to sell.

There are some great options out there for bathroom tiles these days too. You could make a real statement with 3D mosaic tiles, for example, if you want something a bit more interesting than the standard plain white.

Earlier this month, Real Simple highlighted some timeless bathroom design trends that you may also want to consider, especially if you are thinking of selling in the not too distant future.

For the walls, subway tiles are a good option if you want something that will age well and look stylish. The news provider also cautioned against replacing your bathtub with a large walk-in shower, noting that having at least one tub in your home can be a big selling point, especially for families with kids.
